Brothers in Christ is a monthly breakfast for the men of MPC to get together for food, faith, and fellowship. At this meeting, we’ll start at 8am and will host a speaker panel with Chris Bargery, David Newbrander, Cooper Thurston, and Steve Welke on the topic: Biblical Brotherhood & Male Friendships.
Join us for a men’s breakfast that confronts a lie — that we can walk alone in a world far too broken for solitary faith. Our panel of brothers will speak candidly about the real struggle of finding trustworthy, Christ-centered friendships — and why the search is worth it. Come hear how God uses imperfect men to strengthen one another, help us grow and fight the good fight alongside each other.
Speaker Panelists
Chris Bargery has been married to Melinda for 38 years. He is a father of four adult children and has nine grandchildren. Chris is a retired military officer and currently directs a defense agency within the Department of War. He has been a MPC member since 2017 and served as a Ruling Elder for five years. He has a passion for church worship administration and ministering to men.
David Newbrander has been married to Annie for five years and is a father of two children. David worked in data analytics. He has been a member of MPC since 2013 and has served as a Ruling Elder for two and half years. He has a passion for worship and children’s ministry.
Cooper Thurston has been single for 34 years and has no children. He’s worked in facility management for eight years. He’s been a member of MPC for 10 years and has served in a variety of ministries over that time period. He has a passion for ministry to folks in the trades as well as his running community.
Steve Welke has been married to Laura for 33 years and is a father of three adult children. Steve works in cybersecurity. He has been a member of MPC since 1990 and has served as a Ruling Elder for six years. He has a passion for ministry to children and young adults.
