Our current venue (INOVA Conference Center) is undergoing renovations, so we’re temporarily meeting for worship at The Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center in Fairfax.

Watch this video and read below to learn more about why we’re transitioning, what it will be like, and how you can be involved!

Where We’re Going

Our new worship space is located less than 15 minutes from our INOVA space. It is close to downtown Fairfax, Van Dyke Park, and is just down the road from Historic Blenheim, where we’ve hosted many recent outdoor events.

This change should not significantly affect most drive times on a Sunday morning. View the map to see our location change.

Our current venue (INOVA Conference Center) is undergoing renovations and will be unavailable for us starting May 17th. The project may take up to 7 months to complete.

We’ve known for a while that INOVA was planning renovations around the Conference Center, meaning we would need to find another place to worship for a season.

The Sherwood Center provides the best option when considering all of the different pieces of the venue puzzle: location, availability, capacity, parking, classrooms, cost, and others. It is also in the heart of Fairfax, off a major road, and we have held events there previously.

The Sherwood Center also allows us to bring in outside food, which we could not do at INOVA. Post-COVID, this will allow for events, hospitality, and ministry opportunities.

Notably, the Sherwood Center offers a larger seating capacity, so this is a great opportunity to invite others to join us!

INOVA’s renovation project may take up to 7 months to complete, so we have booked Sherwood Community Center through December at least.

Effective August 12, 2021, all members of the public age 3 and older—regardless of their vaccination status—are required to wear masks/face coverings while inside Fairfax City facilities (including the Stacy C. Sherwood Center). To honor our hosts and to love our neighbor, we require masks for all entering the Sherwood Center for our services beginning August 15.

As it stands now, our plan is to return to INOVA once their renovations are complete. But as we’ve experienced recently, “the heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Prov. 16:9)

We’re glad you asked! There are three main ways you can be involved in this transition:

Pray: Pray for all the logistics involved in transitioning: changes in set-up and tear-down, storage, and transport. Pray also God would use this space to reach many for Christ and equip his people for life and ministry.

Invite: Do you know someone who lives near the Sherwood Center? Perhaps this transition can serve as a simple way to reach out and invite them to church. Our new space has larger capacity, even considering social-distancing, so this is a great opportunity to invite others to join us!

Serve: This transition, and the gradual restarting of other ministry activities provide significant opportunities and needs for serving. Primarily, we’ll need volunteers for:

  • Set-up before and break-down after our services
  • Greeting
  • Wiggle Room and Children’s Church

The worship space feels much like the Fellowship Hall at McLean, and the conference room at INOVA. Because it is often used as a performance space, it is ideal for a worship space: it is equipped with technical capabilities that we need, a center screen, and moveable chairs. The space has only one level, which makes set-up, take-down, and transport much easier.  Watch the video on this page for a look inside.

There are two classrooms for our use, which is sufficient for this unique COVID season. We will be continuing our Wiggle Room for families, and hope to open Children’s Church with volunteer help.

This change should not significantly affect most drive times on a Sunday morning. There were no feasible options in extremely close proximity to INOVA. Remember that we do not plan for the Sherwood Center to be our forever home.
